Guilty Women

"Show me a woman who doesn't feel guilty and I will show you a man."
Erica Jong

It is true, isn't it? Men just seem to go out and do what they want to do, and they don't have to think twice. They seem so sure of themselves. (Either that or they put up a good image!)

Women? We worry about who will be affected by what we do, what people will think about us and whether we are being selfish in our choices! (And that is only when thinking about what to cook for dinner!)

Imagine the trauma we women battle with over major decisions, such as whether or not to put our children into childcare, whether to return to work, whether to have children at all?

Sometimes life looks so much easier for men............. (but I'd rather be a woman!)

It is very true. I nearly ruined a dinner out with "the girls", by asking if anyone felt "guilty". One by one the eyes all welled up with tears! And we're not talking about legitimate guilt, just all those things that women beat themselves up over (usually to do with parenting decisions).

Perhaps it's nature's way of ensuring survival of the species?

I guess someone has to think about others, and that seems to be our lot!
